The Brief

BOHRAI is not an event. It is the operational fabric beneath India's deep-tech transition.

Position

India does not lack ambitious technologists. What it has lacked is a coherent national surface — a place where serious work in AI, robotics and silicon can be evaluated, validated and routed to the missions that need it.

BOHRAI is Bharat Open Innovation Hub — designed as that surface. It connects every level of the deep-tech economy, from a student soldering their first board to a venture-backed company preparing its first industrial pilot, through one disciplined, peer-reviewed pathway.

The platform is deliberately institution-agnostic. What matters is the technology, the team's seriousness, and a demonstrated route from prototype to deployment. Every submission moves through the same evaluation engine; every track is anchored to specific national missions, industrial applications and a clear destination beyond the showroom.

India possesses one of the world's largest student populations, yet millions of talented minds remain disconnected from real-world innovation opportunities.

BOHRAI exists to transform universities from teaching institutions into innovation engines. The future belongs to institutions that produce researchers, builders, startups, patents, robotics systems, AI breakthroughs, and nationally significant technologies.

Participation is open to students, faculty, independent researchers, makers and early-stage startups — across institutions and geographies in India. The platform is institution-agnostic by design; what matters is the quality and seriousness of the work.
Q · 03Is BOHRAI an operating system or a software platform?+
No. BOHRAI is an initiative — a national innovation platform under BOHRAI. It coordinates evaluation, validation and mission-routing for India's deep-tech ecosystem. It is not an OS or a product.
Q · 05How is BOHRAI aligned with national programmes?+
Tracks are mapped explicitly to existing national missions including IndiaAI, the Semiconductor Mission, iDEX, NIDHI PRAYAS, the National Quantum Mission and others. Alignment happens at the design stage so that serious work has a clear destination.
Q · 06What does a strong submission look like?+
A functional prototype or working system, accompanied by a clear articulation of the problem, technical approach and intended deployment context. Polish matters less than evidence that the technology actually works and that the team understands where it goes next.
Q · 07How are submissions evaluated?+
Peer-reviewed by domain panels drawn from academia, industry and applied research. Evaluation criteria centre on technical depth, manufacturability, sovereign relevance and commercial viability.
Q · 08Can an industry or government body partner with BOHRAI?+
Yes. The platform is structured to host long-term partnerships — corporate challenges, pilot programmes, recruitment pipelines, joint research and mission alignment. Partnership formats are tailored to the partner's needs.
